Mural-Related Questions

What is the process for painting a mural?

  • The muralist will need a bathroom

  • Access to water and washout sink for cleaning brushes

  • A lockable indoor storage for supplies and equipment

  • Access to electrical outlets

  • Parking area to load and unload supplies

  • A lift if necessary

  • Key/card access if necessary

What does a muralist need while on site?

  • The more you provide the faster and more accurate your quote will be*

    • Picture(s) of the wall space

    • Size and dimensions

    • Location of mural

    • Goals and vision for the idea

    • Reference photos and art examples that portray your vision

    • Blueprints, architectural renderings or floor plans

    • Color Schemes

What do I send over to receive a quote for a mural?

  • Outdoor murals can last 10-15 years with a protective coating

  • Indoor murals can last 10-30 years with a protective coating

  • Additional applications of a UV protectant coating after 5-10 years can increase the longevity of preservation

How long will the mural last?

How long have you been muraling?

  • Since 2012

What's the largest mural you have ever painted?

  • Tallest mural 60ft

  • Widest mural 100ft

  • Longest floor mural 150 ft

Do I need to prep the wall? - Yes

  • Wall should be clean of any dirt or damage and primer coated a solid color ( usually white)

  • Surrounding floor area should be clear of any obstacles

  • Not prepping the wall properly will result in additional costs

Do I have to be there while you paint? No

  • As long as I have all the amenities and access to supplies, I do not need any supervision

  • I do require attentive phone communication

  • Enjoy the process, you are welcome to hang out

Can you work around my business hours? - Yes

  • If necessary, schedules can be made flexible to accommodate the need for day-to-day business operations to occur. It’s not my first rodeo at the late-night shift

Will you travel for work? - Yes

  • Will travel anywhere with the necessary compensation for travel and housing accommodation

Can we merchandise your mural? - Yes, but only with permission

  • My original artwork and intellectual property is under the protection of US copyright law

  • Any merchandising must be done in collaboration with the artist unless the original contract omits the rights to the purchaser

  • Licensing for commercial use available

Do you document the process? - Yes

  • I always document each project in various ways for engaging and eye-catching social media content

  • For an additional cost, I can develop personalized content of the process and result upon request.

Do/can students participate in the mural process? - Yes

  • For an additional cost, I can build in programming that allows students to have an intentional, explorative experience that leaves them curious, confident, educated and empowered

  • ANYONE can participate in the mural process

Do you only work with children? - No

  • We do murals and programs with all ages and for any individual, business or organization

  • Working with the youth is a big part of my why, but it does not limit anyone from experiencing the Joy

This sounds fun. Would you do a mural program for adults? - Yes

  • I specialize in mural programs that are intentional and uplifting for all ages

  • Personal or corporate bookings are available

  • Small or large groups

  • The creative adult is the child who never stopped dreaming

What makes you an art educator?

  • I have a Dual BFA Degree in Art Education with a concentration in Printmaking and a minor in Art History from The College of St. Rose

  • My high school art teacher was the reason I went to college, which led me to the life I live today. It is my calling to give that same gift to others

Process & Payment-Related Questions

Do/can students participate in the mural process? How does the payment process for murals work?

  • We send a contract to be approved and signed

  • A quote is given for approval and a down deposit of 50% is required for a job to begin

  • The design is drafted for approval to begin job

  • At the completion of project, the remaining balance is due on the final day of production

  • Payment is accepted via: ApplePay, Cashapp, Venmo, Zelle, Paypal, Square, Check, Cash

What’s included in the mural price?

  • Labor

  • Design Fee

  • Planning

  • Equipment

  • Materials & Supplies (unless stated otherwise)

  • Food & Travel

Are you insured? - Yes

  • • Insurance can also go through the commissioned party or purchased for specific projects

Is there a price break if certain amenities are supplied? - Yes

  • Equipment rentals, supplies, travel, lodging, food ect. can all be removed from pricing if provided

Why do I need to sign a contract?

  • This protects you just as much as it protects the artist. It creates a clear expectation and outline for all logistics and proceedings related to the project to eliminate misunderstandings.

Why do I need to pay a 50% deposit?

  • The deposit insures your commitment to my schedule, cost of design, the necessary supplies needed to begin and the labor of my team

My company only does Net 15/Net 30 payment processing, will you still work with us? - Yes

  • With schools and community organizations I am used to the process and am willing to work under those terms

  • Anything outside Net 30 must require a deposit unless discussed otherwise
