THE STORY BEHIND MADE IN TRUTH

"I did not plan to become an artist, an educator, or a speaker.

After an injury pulled me away from athletics, an art teacher recognized something I could not yet see and encouraged me to pursue art education.

I laughed in her face at the time, but that moment unknowingly reshaped my life, eventually leading me to earn my degree and even receive a full-time teaching offer. Still, something felt misaligned, and trusting my intuition over security, I chose to step outside the traditional system and become my own boss.

After fourteen years building a career in clothing production, I took a giant leap of faith and found my way back to what felt most true: art that revitalizes communities, youth mentorship, and sharing my wellness journey. I speak warmly and honestly, blending creative storytelling and presence to open space for self-discovery and reprogramming. What might shift if we slowed down long enough to stop performing for the world and paid attention to what has been quietly asking for our care?"

Jessica Marley, ELA Teacher -
Schenectady High School

I felt the project was beneficial to the students in ways that cannot be quantified. What stood out to me the most was how “at home” Gene was with the students.  He left students with several tools for them to utilize at their convenience: journaling, sound healing, and guides to support the students to connect back to themselves. Even though this may seem irrelevant to an English classroom, educators know that the social and emotional well-being of our students is of the utmost importance.  Gene was able to give the students exactly what they needed.

TESTIMONIALS

Jennifer DeVinney, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum -
Red Creek School District

Excellent communication and collaboration from day one until the day of the training.
Mr. O’Neill did his homework to ensure that sessions were personalized to our staff and district priorities.  Staff were greatly appreciative of the opportunity to learn some self-care techniques to use on a daily basis.  This was a perfect March training session for staff to pause and regroup before the final push to the end of the year.

Sage Fulgan, Board President -
Capital District Counselors Association

Our board was very happy with the event and the communication with you directly.  We had good feedback from members who attended. They were exposed to new ideas about the body/mind connection and how we hold stress in the body.  Participating in breathing and stretching exercises was great, the sound bowls were a good ending...for many, that was a new experience, and you did a wonderful job with them.  We enjoyed your presentation, and people went away with new ideas.
Thank you!
