YWCA-GCR x Arts Center of the Capital Region
YWCA of the Greater Capital Region - Troy, NY // June 2021
The YWCA of the Greater Capital Region provides vital housing, advocacy, and support for women and families, but its exterior didn’t reflect the care inside. I transformed a neglected alleyway into a safe, welcoming space that represents the community it serves. Developed through conversations with staff and residents, the mural reflects the YWCA’s mission of empowering women and fostering inclusivity. Grounded in lived experiences, the artwork now stands as a downtown Troy landmark that promotes safety, pride, and long-term community investment.

“ Every single aspect of this project was empowering. Eugene was thoughtful in every moment from building a concept to the finish line. He moved with intention, respect, and the utmost kindness through each and every step of the process. Not one single corner was cut in any instance. Care was put in to considering the medium, type of paint used, researching protective coatings, the input of residents, the feedback from observers.”
