Lincoln Elementary Community School - Schenectady, NY // September 2023
Lincoln Elementary Community School aimed to activate its newly repaved playground to support student wellness, improve daily operations, and strengthen school culture. I reimagined the space as a playful, functional environment featuring joy-themed games, yoga zones, inspirational messaging, and school pride elements that encourage movement, cooperation, and emotional regulation. To solve dismissal flow challenges, lion paw graphics using the school mascot created clear pathways for pickup and reentry. The project extended into classrooms through wellness programming and concluded with a surprise mural reveal turned school-wide dance party—reinforcing creativity, connection, and collective joy.
Post Results:
-
Improved playground aesthetics and school environment
-
Organized parent pickup process
-
Outdoor zones for yoga, mindfulness, and self-regulation
-
Increased student engagement and cooperative play
-
Playground used as a community gathering space after school hours

“I love it, but more importantly, the students and families love it! It contributes to a positive feel when arriving to the school, and it has helped the teachers with outdoor routines (especially when it’s time to line up on the colored paws). It was a great experience for the kids to work with a muralist and see the process. I appreciated your knowledge and professionalism.”
