MEET ME IN THE MIDDLE

Downtown Albany BID X National Grid
During the height of COVID-19, the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District reimagined William Street Alleyway near the MVP Arena as a safe, family-friendly public space. In partnership with National Grid, lighting and public charging stations improved safety, while I transformed the corridor into a 150-foot narrative mural designed to encourage play, reflection, and movement. Outdoor furniture was curated to echo the mural’s aesthetic, creating a whimsical and welcoming environment. What was once a pass-through alley is now an active downtown gathering space supporting local business, public events, and everyday well-being.

“This project has transformed a dull, blah, industrial looking walkway into a colorful, pleasant and enjoyable space! People in Downtown have used this alleyway for eating lunch, photo shoots, events, and relaxing in the colorful street furniture we purchased to connect with the mural! The learning process was great and we had really good communication regarding certain challenges, weather, foot traffic, etc. It was a super positive experience for us!”
