Namu Myoho Renge Kyo
NAMU MYOHO RENGE KYO
The Shirt Factory
The Shirt Factory - Glens Falls, NY // October 2025
The Shirt Factory commissioned this mural with full creative freedom, trusting me to create a work aligned with its values of artistic integrity, community, and cultural contribution. I chose to honor Jun Yasuda, a living peace activist and steward of the Grafton Peace Pagoda, whose lifelong devotion to peace, human rights, environmental consciousness, and nonviolence has impacted communities worldwide. Centered on the Japanese Buddhist chant Namu Myoho Renge Kyo, the composition flows from Jun’s praying hands into a blooming lotus, symbolizing devotion, patience, and spiritual growth. Positioned at the main entrance of a highly trafficked creative complex, the mural introduces a cultural and spiritual presence that invites curiosity, reflection, and dialogue—transforming an industrial threshold into a place of pause and peace.
