THE GOLDEN WAY
Algonquin Middle School
Averill Park, NY // October 2025
Algonquin Middle School sought authentic representation and a unifying visual anchor during a period of identity and morale challenges tied to district-wide mascot changes. I designed a large-scale mural and interactive student assembly centered on wellness, reflection, and collective ownership, engaging over 750 students, teachers, and administrators. Participants embedded positive intentions into the artwork through collective thumbprints, while the design integrated core character values, local landscapes, and all district mascots to reinforce unity and acceptance. The mural now anchors the school’s most visible space as a shared symbol of pride, belonging, and community.

“This wasn’t simply a mural project, It was a student engagement and wellness project and may be the most valuable character education that our school has ever engaged in. Eugene developed a strong sense of community through his engagement of our students and staff. Each student had a personal intention literally embedded in the paint of the mural, a beautiful concept that had a lasting impact on all.”
